CHEEC research capabilities include database management and systems administration, applications development, biostatistical support, and Geographical Information System (GIS) applications for environmental health research projects.

Databases are designed and implemented emphasizing Oracle Database Products and Microsoft Access. SAS is employed for biostatistical applications, and GIS tasks use ArcGIS.

With guidance from the University of Iowa Office of the Vice President for Research, CHEEC implemented a fee for service program to meet the needs of researchers who would like to work directly with CHEEC data management services. Also, CHEEC can serve as co-Investigators on grants or as subcontractors on specific projects.

CHEEC has worked cooperatively with NCI, NIEHS, CDC, EEPA, Iowa Departments of Natural Resources and Public Health, and many University of Iowa departments designing and implementing research projects that are data intensive.
