Mike Wichman, Ph.D.
Dr. Mike Wichman is the Senior Program Manager for Environmental Health Programs in the University of Iowa Hygienic Laboratory (UHL) where he oversees drinking water, waste water, ambient water, and chemicals spills programs. Dr. Wichman holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in chemistry from Creighton University, and earned a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from Kansas State University. Dr. Wichman joined the UHL in 1987 where he has served in a variety of functions, including Project Manager for the UHL contract with the EPA Contract Laboratory Program (CLP), facilitating implementation of new analytical systems, method development, and teamwork within and external to the UHL, and developing advanced quality assurance plans applicable to water quality program needs, proposed rules, final rules and providing assessment initiatives. Dr. Wichman serves as liaison between the UHL, University of Iowa departments, and state and federal agencies to facilitate development of cooperative agreements, grants, and other funding opportunities. |
